Jing Yu

Metropolitan Shanshui, 2018—2020, Synthetic materials, 160 x 190 cm

Jing Yu, formerly known as Shi Qionglu, graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, University of the Arts London, and the French School of Arts and Culture Management (EAC), with a bachelor’s degree in Textile Art Design (honor) and a master’s degree in Business Administration in Arts and Culture management.

Jing Yu travels between London, Shanghai, New York and Australia all year round. His rich overseas study and life experience has given this post-80s artist a keener awareness and understanding of different urban elements. The balance and contrast between microcosmic individual memory and macrocosmic group memory are discussed by means of unique artistic form. The point, line and surface are disassembled, spliced, super imposed and accumulated with the idea of meditation, and challenge the future prophetic power with the artistic means of reconstruction.

From traditional painting techniques to contemporary mixed-material art, Jing Yu, as a young artist of the current generation, has completed the transformation from focusing on painting form techniques to focusing on social reality issues. She incorporates various issues she has seen and heard in social reality into the creation of her works, trying to lead the viewer into a unique artistic realm.
