CELEBRATION OF LIFE

e+Hive Art and Design Gallery is delighted to present Celebration of life. This group exhibition cherishes the spirit which animates living creatures, emphasizing the awareness and appreciation of the connection between humans and other life forms, be it animals or plants, in our surroundings.

The exhibition showcases 22 pieces of artworks of ten talented artists from Sydney and Melbourne, Tony Belobrajdic, Neve Curnow, Nadia Knight, Charlotte Mackie, Raisa Mclean, Sharon Monagle, Karen Parsons, Shi Qi, Ginette Wang, Joseph Hsieh. Across a dynamic mix of sculpture, large scale installation art, drawings, watercolours, paintings, photography, mixed media to video installation, the exhibition centers on the key ideas of PASSION, VITALITY, FREEDOM, MULTIPLICITY and CONNECTION, featuring an orchestrated conversation between our artists and other life forms while creating a multi-dimensional experience for the audience.


Raisa Mclean

Raisa Mclean investigates different social environments, constructing and manipulating them in large scale artworks. Her works look at power – particularly social power, and the power of seduction. Muddying the line between party and ritual, immortalizing moments in 3D vignettes, the works are oversaturated in different ideas and storylines and are supercharged and messy.


Charlotte Mackie

Charlotte’s practice ranges from sculptural construction to multimedia and interactive art. With a sole focus on the Charlotte is finishing her third year of Fine Art at Monash University and is currently working and living on unceded Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri lands. Her practice ranges from sculptural construction to multimedia and interactive art. With a sole focus on play- there is a light heartedness, a sense of joy, of childlike bliss that comes from her practice.


Neve Curnow

Neve Curnow is a lens based artist whose work explores a contemporary take on gothic and horror film aesthetics. Her work reappropriates these genres tropes and transforms them into unconventional narratives. Curnow’s works are altogether stimulated by the presence of the sublime and supernatural.


Shi Qi

Born in China, undergraduate student of fine art in Monash. Through the artistic practice of multiple media, Shi has a unique style in the exploration of different fields, focusing on the importance to the inheritance and development of traditional culture.


Tony Belobrajdic

Born in Croatia in 1958, Tony Belobrajdic is a full time figurative artist. He started exhibiting in late seventies and had his first solo show in 1983, Croatia. Tony relocated to New York in 1987 where he continued his art practice. Working in Australia since 1989, he divides his time between studios in Sydney and Croatia, exhibits both in Sydney and Europe regularly. His style could be described as a contemporary impressionism.


Ginette Wang

Ginette Wang is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Melbourne whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as internationally. Her art shows intangible things beyond what we can see on the surface, arousing viewers’ emotions and transporting them into another time and space. Through her works, she explores two distinctive themes: Earth and Soul Travel. Both of which capture peace, energy, and “an essence”. 


Karen Parsons

Karen Parsons is known for her impressionistic, abstract landscape and floral paintings. She was awarded a First Class honors Arts Degree from John Moores University Liverpool. Originally from Wales, UK, her painting is an emotional and spiritual response to the beauty and light synonymous with Australia’s unique environment.


Sharon Monagle

Sharon is an abstract expressSharon Monagle is an abstract expressionist and figurative painter. She is fascinated by the human experience and is often trying to capture in her work some essential element of our relationships, our body language, our psychology. Her paintings are held in private collections in Australia, the UK, USA, France, Canada and Singapore.


Nadia Knight

Nadia Knight is a popular contemporary artist. In 1996, Nadia moved to Australia from Russia. In 2009 Bachelor Degree of Visual Art. Nadia started exhibiting in 2004. Some people commented: “intelligent”, “rich art”, and “talented with just a few lines you make a statement”. Her favourite artists are Paul Cezanne, Picasso, Toulouse-Lautrec, Amadeo Modigliani, Henry Matisse, Jean-Michel Basquiat.


Joseph Hsieh

Born in Guangzhou, China. After he finished his study as a law student in 2012, he decides to go overseas and immerse himself in what he loves. One year later, Joseph starts a new journey as an emerging freelance photographer. He completed a Master of Photography at RMIT in 2019. And found CIKE PHOTO STUDIO in Melbourne, which focuses on providing photography services for the artist and commercial galleries.
He is particularly interested in the field of art photography as well. He is using a mix of drawing, sculpture, architecture, etc. Interfered by digital processing, his artworks often appear to be abstract, glitchy, and hardly recognizable of the original objects taken.
