Helen Geier
Born in Sydney in 1946, Helen Geier studied in Sydney at the National Art School and at Alexander Mackie before traveling to London where she taught at a number of respected institutions and completed post-graduate studies at the St Martin’s School of Art (1973). In 1998, she received a Master’s degree from RMIT University, Melbourne. From 1981 to 1994 Geier was a Senior Lecturer at the Canberra School of Art and now works full-time in her art practice.
Helen Geier’s career encompasses solo and group exhibitions since 1972 and includes two major 30-year surveys: Different Fields of Version (graphic work, Earl Lu Gallery, Singapore, 1999) and Dissolving View (painting s and woks on paper, Canberra Museum and Gallery, 2000). Geier’s work has been featured in curated group exhibitions and the Melbourne International Art Fair and she has held solo exhibitions in all States and Territories throughout Australia and internationally in cities including Vienna, New Delhi, Singapore, Beijing and Auckland. Her work is held in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, most State galleries, many regional, corporate and institutional collections and numerous private collections in Australia and overseas.
