环境，无论是自然环境还是政治社会环境，使我们在二十一世纪的生活中对其尤为关注着。二十世纪的科学和社会进步的传统，以及对自然界和人类社会的负面影响一起，主导了我们总体思维从关注人类的社会问题到我们生活于其中的环境并影响到我们生存处的重大转移。
本次展览取名“处境”，选择了来自澳大利亚和中国的五位艺术家作品来反映出我们社会的这种转变，由此产生的艺术的表达，显示了无论我们身居何处，我们都分享着影响到我们生活环境条件的种种元素与担忧。
这次展览选择的作品，基于每一个艺术家整体的艺术作品，彰显了艺术家的个人艺术语言，从各种不同的艺术形式包括绘画、雕塑、装置艺术和声音艺术, 每一件作品都表达出与他们个人生活经历相连而关注的共同问题。这种在艺术语言上的共同主题跨国家和地区、本地和国际的当代艺术场景中成为更加显现。
这种趋势表述的不仅仅是美学语言，而且日益成为我们当代生活中的政治诉求。
声音艺术家与艺术家Jay-Dea Lopes和艺术家G.W. Bot、Travis Paterson、张欣的合作，是本次展览的重要方面。它展示了在艺术家的创作过程中，他们之间的共同思考。与此同时，它为观众提供了通过声音和视觉之间的“对话”来理解进入展览的作品。
艺术家 及 作品介绍
▶Travis Paterson
Travis Paterson is an artist and educator based in Northern NSW whose work encompasses both traditional and digital printmaking. His work primarily addresses ideas of identity, memory and queer histories.
Upon graduating from Southern Cross University he was awarded the Kaske Fellowship enabling him to co-curate a touring exhibition of Australian printmakers that was shown in Bristol, UK, as part of the renowned international IMPACT conference.
In 2013 he won the Ursula Hoff Institute prize for his finalist entry in the prestigious Geelong Acquisitive Print Award. Paterson has also undertaken a residency in Mooste, Estonia.

▶Jay-Dea Lopez
Jay-Dea Lopez is a field recordist whose practice delves into the psychogeographic aspects of environmental and personal space.
Within this field Lopez explores the way in which sound informs our relationship with our social and environmental heritage.
Lopez’ compositions have been featured in galleries, radio broadcasts and festivals in Australia and abroad. Recently Lopez has been involved in cross-disciplinary exhibitions where he composes soundscapes that respond to visual art-works.
Lopez lives and works in Main Arm, northern NSW.

▶G.W. Bot
G.W. Bot studied in London, Paris and Australia, graduating from the Australian National University in 1982. She has been a full-time artist since 1985 and has held over fifty solo exhibitions in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth, London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles and Manila.
Her work is represented in over one hundred public collections, including the National Gallery of Australia, The Albertina (Vienna), British Museum (London), Victoria and Albert Museum (London), Bibliothèque nationale (Paris) and Fogg Museum of Fine Arts (Harvard University, USA), as well as numerous Australian regional galleries, corporate collections and domestic and international tertiary, college and academy art collections.

▶Yifeng Tan |谈一峰
Tan Yifeng is a Canberra based artist. Graduating from the Canberra School of Art, ANU with a Graduate Diploma of Art, Tan has exhibited widely in Australia and overseas.
As an award winning artist for the Canberra Art Prize (2003) and a number of prestigious awards, his work is held in public art insitutions and private collections in Australia and overseas.

▶Xin Zhang | 张新
Zhang Xin is important artist in the contemporary Chinese art scene and one of the key players in the development of contemporary art in Shanghai in the 1990s.
She worked as a professional artist at the Shanghai Oil and Sculpture Institutes after graduated from the Sculpture Department of Art School, Shanghai University in 1990. Her work challenges public perceptions on traditional value of female social conditions in comtemporary economic and political environment. She has participated a number of major art events and biennals in China, and her works have been selected to show in some key art exhibitions in China and overseas.
